Road Trippin'

One would think that I was on some heavy medication when I thought up the idea to drive down to Orlando, Fl and back with 3 children under 3. Heck, for a while there, I thought I was crazy too. But to my pleasant surprise, all 3 of the Lebanik kids did amazingly well on the 18+ hour drive there and again on the 19+ hour trip back home. Why was the trip back longer? It's because I had never seen New Orleans and Kevin wanted to drive thru on the way home. How, do you ask, did the trip go so well? Well, first got up each morning at 3:00 and were out the door by 3:45. That way, the kids were still groggy and slept for the first part of the trip. Once they got up we always made sure to find a Cracker Barrel for them to play "checker cheese" and fill them up for the long day ahead. The best thing I packed for the entire trip was the kids' baby potty. Bathroom breaks on the road averaged less than 4 minutes total time. We pulled over, let them go, I rinsed it out and we were back on the road. Seriously though, my kids were great. There was minimal whining, a total of 3 temper tantrums and a mommy that was willing to play flight attendant that made the trip a success.

The Countdown Is On!

Till our vacation. I can not beginto tell ya'll how excited we are as a family. The girls don't go a moment with out mentioning the trip and the thought of some time to sight see, try new things and even visit some family just gets me plain ol' giddy inside. We leave Saturday and return home the 16th. In that week's time, we will see Epcot and the flower show going on there, ride rides at Old Town in Kississimmee, have dinner with 5 different princesses, spend 2 fun filled days at Magic Kingdom, spend a day at Dolphin Island with my cousins and then have breakfst in New Orleans' French Quarter. I am itiching to go...as is my camera! I am hoping I get some great shots for you guys. :)

Practice, Practice, Practice...

Since my children are none to happy with me making them sit there so I can take thier pictures, I have branched out and I am now resorting to bribing friends, family and neighbors to let me practice on them!

Introducing...

Kelly Beans Photography!
No, I am NOT in business, but since I am taking pictures of my friends and family to practice and eventually, maybe, go into business I wanted to look a bit more professional. So Kevin and I took the plunge and got a domain name. My site isn't up or anything, but look how cute my little logo is! It's got a jelly bean for each one of the kids!

Happy Easter

Yes, I am well aware that this post is WAY over due, but wanted to share our Easter with ya'll anyway. We had a great time. Now that the girls were old enough, we ventured out to some commuinity Easter egg hunst in addition to the 3rd Annual Lebanik one. The Roanoke Easter egg hunt was kind of a bust though since it literally took all of 30 seconds. I was lucky to get one picture in while there were still some eggs on the ground. Even Matt had a good time landing himself 2 eggs that he refused to let go of for the rest of the day.

The following weekend, I took the kids down to our community's egg hunt. Boy oh boy was that different. There were over 13,000 eggs there that day. Can we say EXCESSIVE?!?!? There were bounce houses, face painting, crafts and of course, the Easter Bunny. Too bad Matty was worn outfrom all the activities by then. Seriously, this snap shot is one of my all-time favorites!

Anyways, they all had a blast even if Kevin WAS working that day.

I Lost My License!

My blogging license that it. Well, at least my friend Jessica told me I had. And she is so right. Our house has changed so dramatically and the whole point of this blog was to keep ya'll abreast with all those changes. If anything, I have been so wrapped up in the changes that I haven't shared them with you all. My bad. :(

So where were we? Well, last time I posted, mom was getting ready to leave for Las Vegas to handle all her legal stuff in one big ol' swoop. Meanwhile here, we were starting to enter the torturous three's. Yeah...what can I say to that one? Matty was taking his first few steps and Kevin and I needed a break.

Let's fast forward oh, let's say a month. ;) Since we have transitioned Matt into his own room, our lives have become much more "normal" for a lack of a better term. All 3 take a bath at the same time. They all go to bed at the same time. They're on the same schedule. Which is nice because it gives Kevin and I some MUCH needed parent-alone time. Now he doesn't sleep through the night all the time, but I must say that I am a MUCH happier mom now that I get a few hours of rest. We took Matt to his 9 month well-baby visit and Dr. Hopkins was very impressed with my little man. He was 18 lbs. 8 oz., 27.75" tall and way ahead of both gross and fine motor skills. Matt is no longer walking, but now he is running. And climbing. And getting into every possible thing he can. He loves dog food, trash cans and the steps. He is definitely taking after his sisters.

Speaking of which, Hailey and Emma are entering full-blown diva stage. I have said it before and I'll say it again, I will take on four 2 year olds as apposed to ANY 3 year olds. EVERYTHING around here is blown way out of proportion. And now that Matt is mobile, the amount of frustration that they have is astounding. They're good girls though. Nothing makes a mom happier than when she picks her kids up from church preschool and having the teacher tell you how good that your kids are(especially compared to the others in the class!). And they are smart too! We've been doing Parents As Teachers now for a few months and the girls had their 3 year old evaluations. They both are doing things at a 4-5 year level . I am so proud of my little girls. All three of them really. I have the best kids a mom could ask for!

And The Award For Worst Blogger Goes To...(A Long Overdue Update)

ME! My goodness, am I behind on things! Well, I guess that would be because my life is exactly as I described in my blog's intro...we run full throttle. Unfortunately, that has ment not keeping up with ya'll lately. My apologies.

So, what have we been up to? Well, Emma and Hailey continue to amaze me. It's true, kids say the darndest things. We went to Central Market today and I bought the girls some sweedish fish. Well, while I was trying to get Matty down for a nap, the girls got into them. Before the entire bag was downed, I tried hiding them in a top cabinet. Miss Hailet pulled a chair over and proceeded to climb up to find said bag. When I yelled at her she replied, "but mom, they're so tasty!" Really? How can I be upset with a response like that. Speaking of the girls. They have descovered that horrible, horrible three letter word. Why? I now officially HATE that word! Conversations around here have gone something like this:

Me: "Please don't throw things at your brother!"
Hailey: "why?"
Me: "Because you could hurt him. And he's a little baby"
Emma: "No mommy, he's a BIG baby!"
Me: "Just don't throw thing, okay?"
Emma: "okay...no mommy. Daddy throws balls. Why can't we?"
Me: "because I said so!"
Hailey: "why?"

Ahhh...the wonders of toddler-hood! But I guess it's a good thing. I started this program that is put on by the school district called Parents As Teachers. It helps to make sure that stay at home kids are developing well and when the girls had their first evaluation, I was told that their vocabulary was impecable. I couldn't help but be a proud momma. So I guess that the girls can ask all the questions they want as long as they continue to learn. Well, maybe there are a few questions off limits, but we'll get those in a little bit. ;) The program is great though. The school puts on 2 play dates a month, has 2 smaller play dates and onces a month a teacher comes out for one-on-one time with all 3 of the kids. Even Matty is learning some beginner skills that will help him prepare for school later on down the road.

The girls at school:

Then there is my boy. Gosh do I love this kid! I sware he is the sweetest thing in the world. And I used the word "kid" here deliberately. He is SO not my baby any more. He cut his first 2 teeth this month and is just about ready to walk. I know what you're thinking...no way! He's only 8 months old. But I'm telling ya'll, he has been cruzing for months and is now standing alone. He's even walking while only holding on to one hand. I know he is desperate to be big like his sisters, but enough is enough! I'll take my baby back even if it's for a moment.

My big boy:

What are Kevin and I doing these days? Well, Kevin is still kicking butt at work. But that's nothing new. He is so good at his job! And he seems to like it too. He's been able to catch a game or two of golf and talk about a great daddy, he's even agreed to a family vacation. Well, I kinda put the idea in his head, but for him to actually agree to it is WAY cool on his behalf.

Am I mean or what?

We're planning on going the second week in May. Can I tell you, I am so excited? I may be more excited than the girls right now!

Me? Well God has finally answered my prayers. I have been able to start running again, but I am taking things really slow. I don't want to hurt myself or cause injury that might make things worse. Besides, I have enough other things to fill my plate right now. I am learning to take things in moderation and to enjoy life as it happens. The good, the bad and everything inbetween. Besides, I have become quite fond of photography so I am learning to balance picture time with kiddo time, running time, church time and hubby time. You know, maybe I should join the circus! It sounds like i'm getting this juggling thing down!

Here are a few of my favorite pics that I've taken recently:

I have a ton more to talk about like what Mom's doing, Matty's girlfriend, the girls doing a photo shoot and everything else, but I'll save them for different posts. After all, I can't go a month with out posting again! I'll have my blogger's license taken away!

Lots of love!
Kelly

Happy Valentine's Day

What? I'm Not Doing Anything!

Soup's On!

With the girls, the first "solid" food that they had was Campbell's Vegetarian Vegetable soup. It's safe cause it doesn't have meat in it and the veggies are all super soft and small...perfect for babies! Both Hailey and Emma loved the new textures and tastes. Not to mention the thrill of eating "big people" food.

Ironically enough, their first experience with soup was the beginning of February. The same as Matty. And just like the girls, Matty instantly fell in love with the old time favorite. I am continually amazed at how similar and yet how different Matthew is from his sisters. All three love to be adventurous. All three love to play. However the Independence of the girls has been balanced with Matthew's desire to cuddle. It was the piece that I was missing. God truly knows what he's doing after all.

6 Months Going On 30

Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing

My son is 6 months and 3 weeks and yet I see him making that inevitable change from baby to big boy virtually overnight. Matthew actually started to scoot back on January 5th, but Kevin was unable to get that on video. He was interupted by a terrible phone call regarding his mother. She had passed away. In the week that followed, Matty mastered the art of sitting unassisted, started to full on crawl and by the time his daddy had returned, we had also gotten the great news that our little man's vsd was almost healed. Talk about a whirl wind month! Now, just a couple weeks later, Matthew has taken his very first cruzing steps and has started pulling up as you saw by the video. I went back and looked to see when the girls started to hit these milestones. Ya'll, I'm sad! He is doing things way before the girls. I am desperately looking for the pause button. Heck, I'll settle for a slow-motion option if I can find one. As hectic as the past 6 months have been, I am scared that these precious baby moments are going to all pass up by before we know it. I know though, that Matty has a very good reason for wanting to grow up fast. As my friend Jodie said, it's "survival of the fittest" in this house and H&E pull no punches. Me-Maw told the girls the other day, "Matt is gonna grow bigger than you one of these days and then you'll be sorry". Well, we'll see. After all, there is only 1 of him and 2 of the girls. In the mean time, I am trying to savor each and every second of my little boy being just that...my little boy.

Will You Be My Valentine???

Back on 19th, the kids and I had our second annual Valentine's Day party. Yes, I'm very well aware that it wasn't in fact Valentine's Day, but we really wanted Desiree' and the kids to be able to come, so we had it on a day that school was out. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The girls love having play dates. They take after their mommy when it comes to being active. And it sure shows. So we invited over some friends from gymnastics, Auntie Desi and the kids, the A's and some of our other neighborhood friends. It really was nice to see some of my friends too. Life always seems to get in the way and next thing you know, it's been months since you've seen your girlfriends. Back to the party. I hope all 12 of the kids had a good time. I sure did. Not only did we make Valentine mailboxes, but we also played outside, made candy necklaces and decorated cupcakes. Matt slept most of the time, but I'm sure next year he'll be trying to steal kisses from all of H&E's pretty friends.
